Specification (Preliminary) April 2001 Performance Racing IMX-45
Design work began mid summer 2000 after the IMX 40's massive success
on the international racing scene in the year of it's debut. IMX 40 is
by now considered to be the optimum and ultimate IMS cruiser/racer, winning
the most highly respected IMS events, both in Europe as well as on overseas'
locations such as i.e. Australia and Japan. Having sold more than 80 IMX
40s within it's first year, a great pressure was put on us to develop
and promote a 45 ft "big sister" to the IMX 40.
Construction
of the models for the moulds started early 2001, and a team of 15 dedicated
yacht designers and boat builders are working full time to enable X-Yachts
to display the first IMX 45 around December 2001.
A limited series of 5 to 6 IMX 45s will be sold on the international markets
for spring 2002 deliveries.
Exactly as for the IMX 40, the aim is to offer a strong and high quality
type of yacht, which shall be easy to handle yet beautiful to look at.
The cockpit, the rig, the handling will make life easy and comfortable
for the crew - in both racing and cruising sense.
The IMX 45 will be offered with optional key elements for cruising i.e.
anchor box locker, deck recessed headstay furler drum, extra removable
main cabin cabinets, larger tankage, spray hood, teak in cockpit, which
makes her even more attractive for the yachtsman, who pays more attention
to the cruising part of sailing.
Great attention has been put into studying and analysing the IMX 45's
performance under IMS as well as under IRC, and we do expect to be able
to offer a real strong contender for taking a lot of silverware in the
years to come.
The calculated IMS GPH (IMS 2001) is 568 sec/nm.
